Owner, content creator, ASE Certified Mechanic with over 20 years experience in automotive service and repair.
Goal:
My ultimate goal with my social media accounts, as well as this website, is to share my automotive passion with you and to provide you with the knowledge that I have gained through my years of experience like, service and repair processes, service and repair tips and tricks, inspection checklists, and fabrication and modification ideas. I would also like to bring the automotive world to you through video content including car shows, motorsports events, and running the vehicles we build/modify/fabricate here at Jardin Autoworks.
My Background:
I started my career as an automotive technician in 1990 working for Wentworth Chevrolet; in 1992, I was hired at Troutdale Chevron; in 1994, I went to work for Ron Tonkin Mazda.
During my work experience at various automotive dealerships in the Portland metro area I gained knowledge on Subaru’s, Mazda’s, General Motors vehicles. Working for independent automotive repair facilities I gained experience working on all makes and models performing routine service, repair and/or replacement of engines and transmissions.
I acquired an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in engine repair in 1993 and continued to gain experience in auto repair and service; also expanding my knowledge in the automotive service industry by learning about customer service, writing service requests, and preparing cost estimates. In 1995 I acquired my ASE certification in brakes and engine performance.
In an effort to suppliment my automotive knowledge and certifications I acquired an associate’s degree in Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Technology between 1997 and 1998. While I was in college I continued in the automotive industry working for Weston Pontiac, Buick, GMC and Firestone part time over the summer and breaks between semesters.
In 1997, I left the automotive service and repair profession to take a job as a mechanical engineering technician helping to design tire chains and associated tire chain tooling for Security Chain, a tire chain manufacturer, in Clackamas, Oregon. In 1998, I accepted a job with a civil engineering firm on the Oregon Coast. Since that time I have worked for multiple private engineering firms and have found a permanent home in the public sector reviewing plans for new development.
Although I left the automotive service and repair profession years ago, I have continued to keep up with the automotive industry. My current career allows me to spend more time working on my own automotive projects, customer projects, learn fabrication and modification processes and techniques and most importantly, create content for you!
While creating content I enjoy performing diagnostics, routine services (i.e. brakes, oil changes, tune ups), and the occasional engine or transmission repair or replacement on my own vehicles or the occasional client by appointment only.
I enjoy quality time with my sons and their families when we work in the shop, and I am really looking forward to when I can teach my grandchildren about cars . Best of all though, sometimes my wife shows up to turn a wrench.
Whether it is working on my dune buggies, VW Bajas, Bronco II’s, Chevy trucks, or my Jaguar, any time I can get my family in the shop, I will!
If you have any questions or ideas about what we can do for your car, don't hesitate to ask! We are always looking for new ideas and projects to take on.
